Devon selling Ware Ruby Red Chalkware Antelope Plaques

Oh, so 1950's! This matched pair of hand painted antelope chalkware plaques have survived the decades with very little damage. Made in Canada by Devon Ware who produced figurines, lamp bases, wall plaques and pottery from 1940 - 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fantastic colour combination here with gold antelopes against a black textured background surrounded by a ruby red “frame”. In the photos there appears to be colour variation between the plaques but it just a trick of the light, they are the same red.

They measure just under 21 cm square and are 4 cm deep (approx. 8.25” square x 1.6”). Very good vintage condition with very minor chipping on the edge of the “frame”. No cracks or crazing. Original paper label on one, embedded wire hangers.
