Vintage Tapestry Needlepoint Evening Bag with Inlaid Mother of Pearl Trim and Gold Chain selling Strap ~ Never Used

This vintage beauty is a circa 1950s tapestry or petit pointe evening bag with eleven pieces of mother of pearl adorning the frame on both front and back. selling The same tapestry pattern is on both front and back, with a coordinated bottom and side pattern to complement the main design. The sturdy frame is of a shiny gold,as is the clasp and snake chain.

The interior lining is of shiny black satin, on which one side has a small sewn-in pocket, probably for a mirror or compact.

It measures 6 1/2 inches across at the top, 8 3/4 inches across the bottom and 7 1/4 inches high including the clasp. The snake chain is 13 inches in total length, affording a 5 1/2 inch drop. There are no maker marks or indication of origin.

Having been a part of a large collection of vintage bags, it has been kept in pristine condition, right down to the original tissue padding the interior. This would make an incredible addition to any collector's treasures, and would be be wonderful to carry for a night on the town or a formal event.
