Golden beetles (Chrysina genus) are rare on the market because they are very hard to catch (ut they are very common in the jungle). They live in the mountains of Central America and fly only at night. Larvae feed on decaying wood and females lay most of their eggs before flying, making golden beetles impossible to overcollect. Most specimens are attracted to light and collected by locals in rural areas, the same way kids collect maybeetle here in Canada.
