This is a great American-made razor from a well-known brand. It's a 7/8" wide, full hollow-ground square-point blade, set in black horn scales. J.R. Torrey manufactured high-value razors out of Worcester, Massachusetts from 1880 all the way to 1963. This selling particular razor has a straight spine like most American-made razors, and no jimping on either side of the tang. A purely American brand and this shaves like a dream!
This restoration took the blade to a 1,000 grit, then a 6,000 grit Japanese water stone, before going to a 12,000 grit treated strop. Then, bare leather for a couple hundred passes. The oil on the blade is for storage and transportation, so when you're ready to use it, just wipe off the oil, give it a few passes on a good strop and you're set for a happy shave!
