Our Pizza Steel is made in the USA from high quality low carbon steel and finished, cleaned, and pre-seasoned in house. Made from a highly conductive alloy, this product outshines even the best ceramic pizza stones due to the intense amount of heat transferred from the steel to the crust. This allows people in their own homes using just their oven to cook wood oven like pizzas in a matter of minutes. No more waiting around for your pizza to cook for twenty plus miutes like you're used to, simply slide your freshly made pizza on to the steel plate and watch it cook to completion in under 5 minutes.
Our standard thickness is 3/16" thick and is perfect for cooking one or two pizzas extremely quickly. If you plan on cooking more than two pizzas consecutively, try our deluxe model (3/8" thick) due to its increased heat storing ability.
These Pizza Steels have an extremely smooth and low drag surface, meaning your pizza will slide on and off without the worry of it sticking. Here are a few tips for the perfect pizza every time:
Tips For Pizza Perfection
To ensure fast and even cooking, place your pizza steel on the top rack of your oven. You want it close enough to the top heating element that it will cook quickly, but far enough from it to slide the pizza onto the steel without any issues (around 6” is perfect).
Preheat your oven on bake at 500 degrees for a minimum of 45 minutes. This will allow your pizza steel to heat up enough so that it cooks the bottom of the pizza thoroughly and quickly.
Once your pizza dough is stretched, topped, and placed onto a pizza peel that has been dusted with either cornmeal or semolina, carefully slide the pizza onto the pizza steel. Take care to ensure that the pizza is flat and centered on the pizza steel.
Allow the pizza to cook to your desired level of doneness. This will take anywhere from 4 to 9 minutes. For a softer pizza, leave the oven on bake for the entirety of this process. If you enjoy a little more char on your pizza, use the broiler to cook the pizza. This will drastically reduce the amount of time it will take to cook to about 3 minutes. If using the broiler, crack the oven door so that the broiling element remains on the entire time. Keep a close eye on your pizza when using the broiler to prevent any burning.
This item ships cleaned and oiled, but will need to be heat seasoned before use. Simply put the steel in your oven at 375 for one hour and let it cool, and prepared to experience homemade pizza like never before.
