Telechron Desk Clock, Art Deco 1920s or selling 1930s, Electric Standing Clock, Working, This fantastic and colorful art deco era electric clock works and the alarm.
This fantastic and colorful art deco era electric clock works, and the alarm works also. Superb Art Deco styling, and the numbers representing the hours have a great 1920s Art Deco look - look especially at the "4". Made in the USA by Telechron, this is Model 7H157. Telechron was purchased by General Electric in the mid 1920s, and by 1928 all Telechron clocks had both Telechron and GE names. Then for a period in the 1930s, from 1932 to 1938, this practice stopped and Telechron clocks were marketed without the GE name. I think this clock is from the early to mid 1920s when the GE name was not used. The clock is in working condition, as the second selling hand moves when the clock is plugged in, and the alarm rings quite enthusiastically. The wood case is in good condition, with only some minor scratches and dings. The clear transparent cover has no cracks or problems, and has very few fine scratches as you might expect from something used and wiped and cleaned over about 100 years. The clock is about 4 7/8" wide and about 4 3/8" high and 2 3/8" deep. The clock stands securely and with stability on a table or desk or shelf. The power cord is vintage, possibly original, and has one spot where the rubber sheath is split. Like any vintage electrical devices, it's recommended that you re-wire it to ensure compliance with modern codes. It weighs a little over 1 1/4 pounds. In good condition, and working.
